"Good Night, and Good Luck"

By Jessica Figurido

Wenham, MA - If you were given an opportunity to tell the truth, would you? What if this truth meant stepping out, with everything to lose? Would you still do it?

Good Night, and Good Luck is a remarkable film released in 2005 recounting American history in the 1950's on communism.  CBS broadcast reporter, Edward Murrow, was giving the chance to speak the truth and he did just that. Speaking out against politician Joseph McCarthy, Murrow takes a stand on the false information that McCarthy addressed on U.S. Air Force Milo Radulovich, a man who lost his job due to suspicion on communism.

As American's we are given rights to Freedom of Speech. In the video above, a brief clip from Good Night, and Good Luck, Murrow address this issue.  Murrow was one of the most notable broadcast journalist America has ever seen.  With all odds against him, Murrow stated the truth rather than exaggerating false information, just to make a story.

At the end of each broadcast Murrow would conclude his episodes with the phrase "Good Night, and Good Luck" and with that being said, "Good Night, and Good Luck."
